Driven by a commitment to healthcare excellence, we aim to bridge the pharmacist gap in New Zealand through global talent and local understanding.
I founded KETS Consultancy Services with a clear vision: to address the critical shortage of pharmacists in New Zealand. Watching the healthcare sector struggle, I couldn’t simply stand by and wait for the crisis to resolve itself. Upon analysing the issue, it became evident that the true challenge lay in the severe shortage of skilled personnel within the field. New Zealand lacked the resources necessary to mitigate the growing health crisis, and it was clear that external solutions were needed.
Determined to make a difference, I initiated a program to train overseas pharmacists to navigate the registration process while preparing them for cultural adaptation with the assistance of a psychologist friend. Step by step, I refined my approach, striving to efficiently support pharmacies and address this pressing issue. My journey took me to rural areas, where I met pharmacy owners to present my vision and work. While some trusted me and hired candidates, others remained sceptical. Despite the challenges, I invested my time, money, and energy, driven by my commitment to contributing to society during this critical period. I travelled most of the rural areas in between Auckland and Wellington.
In my travels, I learned about pharmacies that were forced to operate as depots due to the lack of available pharmacists. My heart went out to the patients who were suffering as a result. In response, I provided these pharmacies with the promised resources, ensuring that timelines were met and their operational needs were addressed.
Today, I continue to refine our efforts, focusing on placing highly trained staff into pharmacies. My team and I dedicate ourselves to supporting staff training, understanding that pharmacies often lack the time and capacity to do so themselves. Together, we remain committed to improving the healthcare system, one step at a time, by addressing the shortage and ensuring quality care for patients across New Zealand.
